Introduction

Greetings, Friends and Companions on the road...

On a short walk in the woods this afternoon, I decided it was time to try my hand at blogging, and see if there's a way to fill in a hole.  The hole is this -- not enough women's voices reflecting theologically on the times we live in and how to live.  There are a few women whom I read and admire, and a few others that I know of and are happy they are out there, but not quite my cup of tea.  Overall, however, there just aren't enough women speaking up from a religious consciousness and commenting on, well, much of anything.

Who am I to start speaking?  A follower of Jesus the Christ, a wanderer among various denominations and communities, a student of the lives of Celtic saints of the 6th and 7th centuries, a teacher of world religions, a priest and (neo)monastic, a wife and sister and grandmother, one who is convinced that there is meaning to be found, and that one must seek diligently to find it. I pray and meditate, practice yoga and Reiki, and try to hold a bit of light out to others that they may find what it is they seek.

What do I want to talk about? The challenge of being human, the richness of spiritual life (however you conceive of it), the deep longing that draws me (and others, I hope) to the Divine, and the need to act justly once you encounter that Divine One (or even if you haven't).  I've divided up my Facebook 'feeds' into 'christian,' 'interfaith,' 'wellness,' and 'politics,' if that tells you anything.  I'll probably talk about all of it eventually.

And yes, I'd love to hear back from you, dear reader.  Agree, disagree, point out something I missed.  That's the beauty of this medium -- there's room for more voices.  Please, though, keep things polite.  I'll take down anything that's unkind, toward me or anyone else.

Oh yes, where does the title of the blog come from?  The quote is from Ram Dass; I saw it on a cartoon of Jesus, Buddha, and Krishna, walking down a road together.  The caption was simple:  We're all just walking each other home.  And I hope you'll walk this path with me, dear reader.  See you soon.

  1. Well Beth, it took much work to be able to get this far...glad we stuck with it. I am happy to be here and look forward to what you write about or discuss. At times I may have comments but I am here to show you that I look forward to the journey. I am more than happy to walk you home. I also am grateful for your company as I journey home as well. Enjoy doing the blog, I think it will be inspiring for anyone who takes time to enjoy the read. Much love to my spiritual sister, Terry

  2. Beth, I am so excited to read future posts from the voice of a "progressive Christian woman." Like you said, there are so few women that I admire that are sharing their thoughts and stories related to their spiritual journey on the internet. I am so looking forward to reading your entries and connecting in this way!
